Former striker Ally McCoist has given his verdict on whether or not Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka is good enough to feature for Manchester City.
Arsenal will be aiming to go toe-to-toe with Manchester City in a Premier League title race this season. Of course, the Gunners will be hoping to come out on top this time around. The north London club already have one over on the reigning Champions, having beaten them at the Emirates Stadium earlier this season.
Of course, the Manchester City squad is still absolutely packed with quality. Pep Guardiola also has extraordinary strength in depth to call upon. Only elite players get the chance to play regularly for City.
Arsenal have a number of top class talents of their own, though. The likes of Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, and William Saliba could all be considered amongst the best players in their position in the Premier League.

Are Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice good enough to star for Man City?
talkSPORT (08/11/2023, 07:40) pundit Ally McCoist was recently asked which Premier League players he thought would be able to break into the Manchester City team. The Scot said, “I think Declan Rice is getting in, when Rodri doesn’t play last night Declan Rice gets in, and I don’t think there would be an awful lot between Rodri and Declan Rice to be honest with you, so there’s a potential for Rice.”
McCoist clearly has huge faith in Rice. However, it was less good news for Saka. According to McCoist, “Saka, he’s not getting in before [Mohamed] Salah.”
Mohamed Salah is a world class player of course, there is no shame for Saka in being ranked behind the Egyptian. The Arsenal man is also significantly younger than his Anfield-based counterpart. There is still plenty of time for Saka to take the level of his game to even greater heights.
Despite being 22-years-old, Saka has already been Ballon d’Or ranked and is a talismanic figure for Arsenal and a key member of Gareth Southgate’s England squad. As is Rice. Between these two, and Gabriel Martinelli, Odegaard, and Saliba, amongst others, Mikel Arteta has built a squad that looks capable of competing with the very best for a long time to come.
