Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka has urged teammate Reiss Nelson to really kick on at the Emirates this season.

Saka was speaking to ESPN today and mentioned his fellow Hale End graduate’s struggle with injuries last year.

The winger mentioned that Nelson was working hard behind the scenes and he hopes he kicks on this season.

Why Pele Is Overrated.

Saka said: “I am happy every time I see one of my boys do well – Reiss Nelson, the winner [against Bournemouth]. I am so happy for him, that moment. He deserved it.

“No one sees how hard he works behind the scenes and he has been unlucky with some injuries. I hope he can kick on from there.

“Eddie as well; Emile — I hope we can continue to make an impact because we all love this club.”

Nelson’s goal that Saka mentioned will surely live long in the memory for Arsenal fans for years to come.

And the impact he regularly made off the bench probably went a long way in securing him a new contract.

Arsenal fans will agree that after last season’s quality cameos, Nelson now needs to show his levels over longer periods.

Saka wants Nelson to kick on at Arsenal this season

Although Nelson’s appearances came mainly on the left-wing last season, he could now get a chance as Saka’s understudy.

It seems that Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard will be locked in a duel for the spot on the left and Saka would otherwise lack competition.

Of course, it will be no easy task but Arsenal will have plenty of games this season with the coveted return of the Champions League.

Squad players like Nelson may now be afforded their rotation chances on Europe’s biggest stage – something that probably swayed his decision to stay.

Mikel Arteta has been so complimentary of Nelson’s attitude and progress in the last year or so and it’s now time to see it on the pitch.

Saka politely wants more from his teammate, as do Arsenal fans.

Reiss Nelson is a Hale End favourite of the Gunners, now it’s time for him to create a legacy at the Emirates.
