Bukayo Saka warned that something could soon happen in the England squad, it’s never seen at Arsenal

Arsenal have several stars on international duty, with Bukayo Saka being one player left out of the action.

As the Three Lions beat Greece 3-0 in the Nations League on Thursday night, Saka watched from afar as the Arsenal winger withdrew from the England squad.

Mikel Arteta will be relieved to have his star man away from international duty following a flurry of injury concerns at the Emirates, with Saka nursing an injury himself. 

There’s hope that the 23-year-old will be fit and firing by the time the Premier League returns next week, with every game a must-win for the Gunners going forward.

Bukayo Saka warned of England competition 

While those at Arsenal will be delighted that Saka is getting a rest over the break, the winger might be concerned after what he saw on Thursday night.

In his place, Chelsea ace Noni Madueke tore Greece apart on the right side of attack, which Gabriel Agbonlahor thinks is something we could continue to see.

Dissecting the game on talkSPORT, the Aston Villa legend warned Saka and his England teammates of upcoming competition in the England squad.

“You look at Watkins playing instead of Kane but the likes of Saka, Palmer, and Foden being out, it gives a chance for Madueke, who was probably the best player on the pitch with Curtis Jones.

“Now you’ve got Thomas Tuchel, who is probably thinking you’ve got competition for Saka on that right-hand side.”

Thomas Tuchel takes charge of the Three Lions at the turn of the year, with early pressure applied to Saka ahead of the German’s arrival. 

Madueke is a big fan of Saka himself however, will be hungry to hold down his spot in the starting XI, giving the Arsenal superstar some food for thought going forward.

Saka has no competition at Arsenal 

Fighting for a spot in the starting XI would be something unbeknown to Saka, who is firmly Arteta’s first-choice right winger in North London.

That being said, even if the forward was not at his best, the 23-year-old is protected at the Emirates due to the fact that Arteta has limited options on the right side of Arsenal’s attack. 

In the summer, it was hoped that Arsenal would sign a winger to bolster the competition there for Gabriel Martinelli and Saka although, it didn’t happen to the level expected.

Arsenal signed 29-year-old Raheem Sterling to compete with Saka, a player who is well-respected but, considerably past his best and therefore a rather ineffective source of competition for the England international. 

Now that a healthy rivalry could evolve in the England squad, the Hale End graduate could experience something he hasn’t before, with a lot at stake when Tuchel arrives.
