The European Super League is on the verge of collapsing and the owners of Arsenal and the other Premier League clubs who were involved have been humiliated.
All six English clubs announced that they will no longer be taking part in the rogue competition. Five of those clubs just released a statement saying they’re withdrawing, but Arsenal came out in a slightly better light with an apology.
The Gunners board wrote an open letter to the fans. Arsenal acknowledged that ‘we made a mistake’ – something that none of the other English clubs had the decency to do after signing up and withdrawing from the Super League.
Yes, we all know it is nothing more than a PR move from the club. If anything, it’s a surprise that none of the other sides even thought about making an apology to the supporters who have been feeling terribly betrayed over the last few days.
The open letter is signed off by the board, but we all know it didn’t come directly from them or Stan Kroenke. We all know that our owner does not regret anything one bit, and if he had the chance to do it again, every Arsenal fan knows he would.
However, the PR move by Arsenal seems to have worked. We received a ton of praise from our own fans for accepting our mistake, and there were a bunch of rival supporters who were fairly impressed as well.
Here’s how a few of them reacted on Twitter
