Cesc Fabregas is a rarity in the Premier League in that he’s a legend at two rival clubs.
Indeed, for all of his flaws, Fabregas remains an Arsenal legend for his incredible performances throughout the 2000s, while in the 2010s, he cemented himself as a Chelsea great too.
Nowadays, Fabregas is one of the brightest young managers in Europe. And the Spaniard is being linked to some high-profile jobs.
Cesc Fabregas is a candidate for Chelsea after the sacking of Liam Rosenior, but he may well be looking at a different role in London.
The idea of Cesc Fabregas returning to Arsenal as manager has surfaced again, and while it remains a distant possibility, it is one that will capture attention among supporters.
According to Kaveh Solhekol, there is a growing belief that Fabregas may have his sights set on the Emirates in the future.
👀 Who should be Arsenal’s manager at the start of next season: Mikel Arteta or Cesc Fabregas?
Cesc Fabregas’ long-term plan is to manage Arsenal
Speaking on Transfer Talk, Solhekol made a claim about Fabregas and his long-term future.
The journalist claims that he’s been told that Fabregas has a long-term plan to become the Arsenal manager one day, claiming that Chelsea may not factor in his career progression plans at this point.
“Fabregas. What I’ve been told, not by anybody at Chelsea, but when we’ve been talking about Fabregas, I think there’s some kind of suggestion that maybe long term, the plan for him is to manage Arsenal one day. Well, and I’m not sure whether moving to Chelsea would be part of his career progression,” Solhekol said.
It is not a confirmed plan, but the suggestion alone is enough to spark discussion.
Fabregas has already taken his first steps into management, and like many former players, he appears to be mapping out a long-term career on the touchline. The idea of Arsenal being the end goal makes sense when looking at his history with the club.
He was once the face of Wenger’s next generation.
As captain, he carried Arsenal through a transitional period and was central to their identity for several years. His connection to the club runs deep, even if his later move to Chelsea complicated how some fans view him.
From Arsenal’s perspective, this is not something that will influence immediate decisions. Mikel Arteta is firmly in place and continues to lead the project. However, football often moves quickly, and long-term succession planning is always part of the conversation at top clubs.
Arsenal are currently managed by a Spanish former midfielder who captained the club, and their next manager may well fit that same mould.
