Arsenal have already done all they can this weekend to boost their own Premier League title hopes.

The Gunners put West Ham United to the sword on Saturday evening, as they ran out 5-2 winners at the London Stadium to maintain their impressive recent form.

Now, attention will turn to Anfield, where league leaders Liverpool will host reigning champions Manchester City today in a clash which could have huge ramifications for the Premier League title race.

Mikel Arteta will watch as Liverpool host Manchester City, but will be aware that all his Arsenal players can do is focus on their own task that they have facing them, which is to chase down to the Reds.

Frank Leboeuf on Liverpool vs Manchester City

Arsenal are one the back foot in the Premier League title race, as their poor form prior to the international break saw them fall short of the pace being set at the top of the table.

Recent results will have renewed belief at the Emirates Stadium. Bukayo Saka has warned Manchester United that Arsenal are back to their best, and the Gunners will need to win again when they face the Red Devils on Wednesday.

In the meantime, ESPN pundit and former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf has had his say on what outcome between Liverpool and Manchester City would most benefit the North London outfit.

The Frenchman stated: “If Liverpool wins against Manchester City, it’s going to be I think psychologically hard for Arsenal players, even if they are at their best, to think that they can catch Liverpool.

“But if it is a draw or a win for Manchester City, Arsenal players are going to be there and are going to be ready. They are back to the business.”

How important is Liverpool vs Man City to Arsenal?

Arsenal’s win over West Ham saw them cut Liverpool’s lead at the top of the Premier League table to six points.

If Arne Slot’s side are victorious today, though, that gap will stretch out to nine points again. The Merseyside club will feel confident heading into this clash too, as their own form has been so impressive of late, whilst Pep Guardiola’s team have endured a string of disastrous results recently.

However, a win for Manchester City could give them the confidence boost they need to rediscover their mojo and resume being the formidable, all-conquering force that they have been in recent campaigns. That outcome wouldn’t suit Arsenal either.

Arteta would likely be most pleased with a draw. However, at this stage of the season, nothing that happens between those two sides will change what Arsenal need to do. To that end, the Gunners cannot afford to become distracted by this fixture.
