Arsenal have had a great start to the new season.
The Gunners have drawn one and lost one of their first nine games in all competitions, which is a terrific record considering how difficult their fixture list has been so far.
Mikel Arteta deserves humongous credit for the way he has set his side up in those games, but that’s not all.
The Arsenal boss has incredible squad depth now, and he has used his bench to brilliant effect since the start of the campaign.
Chris Sutton stunned by Mikel Arteta’s squad depth at Arsenal
Arsenal came very close to winning the Premier League title in each of the last three seasons.
William Saliba’s injury ruined their dreams in 2022/23, while the lack of a prolific striker cost them in the following two campaigns.
Arteta addressed that issue in the summer and made eight new signings.
Arsenal now have two top-class players in every single position on the pitch, and that has made them a very difficult side to beat this season.
In each of their last five games in all competitions, a substitute has come on and scored for the Gunners, which shows just how strong their bench is.
For that reason, Chris Sutton has hailed Arsenal’s depth and predicted that they will beat West Ham United on Saturday.
He wrote on BBC Sport: “Arsenal are a powerhouse at the moment, and their squad depth is frightening.
“Defensively, they are outstanding – they have conceded only three goals in six league games, the fewest in the Premier League – and this should be comfortable for them.”

Arsenal’s squad depth will become even stronger soon
Arsenal’s squad is already among the best in Europe, and that depth, as Sutton said above, really is ‘frightening’ if you’re a fan of a rival club.
However, people haven’t seen the Gunners’ full strength just yet.
Once everyone is fit, Arsenal’s bench will have Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Piero Hincapie and Noni Madueke in addition to their options in recent weeks.
That makes Arteta’s side even stronger and will give him a good chance of competing to win every single competition.
However, it remains to be seen how the Arsenal manager will keep everyone happy.
