Christian Norgaard has officially joined Arsenal.
The Dane was the captain of Brentford, and after signing a new contract there in March, he wouldn’t have expected to be on the move in the summer.
However, once Arsenal came calling, Norgaard decided to become a Gunner, and it was a really emotional moment for him and his family.
The 31-year-old now has a request for his new boss, Mikel Arteta.
Christian Norgaard wants Mikel Arteta to change one tactic whenever he plays at Arsenal
Christian Norgaard is a very reliable player.
The Denmark international was an extremely important part of Brentford. He was integral to the way they played and was brilliant for them in recent years.
Norgaard’s position these days is as a defensive midfielder, but after joining Arsenal, he claimed that he used to be a much more offensive player.
That is why he wants Arteta to allow him to drive up the pitch during games, even if he starts in the deepest midfield role.
When asked about his style of play, Norgaard told Arsenal.com: “It’s developed a little bit over the years.
“I started as a more offensive player, and now I’m a bit more of a holding midfielder. It’s important for me that a team has a good defensive structure and hopefully I can contribute to that.
“Then, coming off a season where I’ve had a lot of goal involvements, it’s something I really hope I can take into this season as well.
“I don’t know what the gaffer’s plans are with me, but hopefully I can also have some freedom to join the offensive play.”

Christian Norgaard’s main role at Arsenal
Norgaard is a very shrewd signing by Arsenal.
After losing one of the most experienced and intelligent midfielders in the world in Jorginho, the Gunners needed someone to fill those big shoes, and we think Norgaard will do a good job.
The Dane will have to provide cover for Martin Zubimendi in midfield, but his main role will likely be to come off the bench and see out games.
Whenever that is his role, we can’t imagine Arteta allowing Norgaard to be offensive. His job will be to control the game and protect the back four.
However, Norgaard is a massive threat in set-piece situations, and we’re sure Nicolas Jover already has a few plans for him ahead of the start of the new season.
