Christian Norgaard is fulfilling his dreams at Arsenal.

The Dane spent over half a decade at Brentford under Thomas Frank, and he was quietly a brilliant player for them in the Premier League.

Earlier in the year, the midfielder penned a new contract with the Bees, which suggested that he would remain at the Brentford Community Stadium.

However, when Arsenal came calling in the summer, Norgaard was desperate for the move, and he is now enjoying life in the famous red and white.

Why Arsenal players gave Christian Norgaard a ‘crooked’ look recently

It’s not very common for Arsenal to sign a 31-year-old, but Christian Norgaard became the chosen one in the summer.

The Gunners needed to replace Jorginho’s quality and experience in the squad, and after several links, they decided to go with the former Brentford skipper.

Norgaard had a tough start to life as a Gunner because of an injury.

He hasn’t played in the Premier League yet for Arsenal; his debut came in the Champions League against Athletic Club.

Norgaard was brought on as a substitute late in the game, and he was delighted to be playing in the most prestigious club competition in Europe.

Even after the game, the joy on the Dane’s face was visible for everyone to see, despite the fact that he was only on the pitch for a few minutes.

That, Norgaard says, attracted a few strange looks from his teammates.

He told Ekstra Bladet: “It was an amazing experience in Bilbao. My teammates looked a little crooked to me afterwards because I was so happy for the five minutes I got in the Champions League.

“I had never played in the Champions League before. So listening to the anthem and getting on the field was huge for me.

“Hopefully, I get more experiences of that kind.”

Christian Norgaard will have an important role to play at Arsenal

Norgaard will not be a regular starter at Arsenal – that was not why he was brought in.

The Dane’s main role at the club will be to provide cover for Martin Zubimendi and Declan Rice when required and also come on to see out games.

The latter is a very important role as Arsenal will need someone experienced to gain control in the game when they are holding on to a narrow lead.

Norgaard is perfectly capable of doing that, which will be key for Mikel Arteta – both in the Premier League and the Champions League this season.
