Club Brugge prepares to face Arsenal in the Champions League on Wednesday, but the Belgian club are not in a great place right now.

Mikel Arteta’s team are already back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Belgium for their sixth Champions League match just days after losing to Aston Villa.

Arsenal will have had very little time to digest their first defeat in 18 matches, which is set to be a brutal run of matches over the Christmas period.

The Gunners will therefore be rather relieved to face a Brugge team that is currently in disarray, and the fans furious about the situation.

Club Brugge fans are furious at the team’s form ahead of facing Arsenal

Club Brugge fans are furious at the team’s form ahead of facing Arsenal in the Champions League next week, according to VoetbalKrant.

The Belgian side head into the European clash against the Gunners following a 3-2 defeat to Sint-Truidense V.V.

Nicky Hayen’s team have now lost four of their last six matches in all competitions and find themselves five points off top spot in the Pro League.

In the Champions League, they could face an early exit, currently sitting outside the play-off spots with just four points.

Brugge have suffered three defeats in five, losing 3-0 to Sporting CP, 4-0 to Bayern Munich and 2-1 against Atalanta.

The Gunners will now be hoping to take full advantage of Brugge’s poor form to make it six wins from six in the competition.

But rather than directing their anger at the team and the coaching staff, supporters are livid at the board for failure to reinvest player sales into the team.

They have sold some big names over recent years, including Andreas Skov Olsen, Maxime De Cuyper and Antonio Nusa.

Mikel Arteta must rest Arsenal’s key players against Club Brugge

Following a taxing run of games and plenty more still to come, Arteta must use this match as a chance to rest Arsenal’s key players.

The Gunners’ stars looked shattered away at Villa Park, with Martin Zubimendi, Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka and Eberechi Eze all playing quite poorly.

The Spanish manager could use the game as an opportunity to hand minutes to players who have struggled to break into the team over recent weeks.

Ethan Nwaneri, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Christian Norgaard could all feature during Wednesday’s Champions League game.
