Liverpool star Cody Gakpo appears to have watched a lot of Arsenal while growing up.

The Gunners have had a few incredible Dutch players in the past. Dennis Bergkamp is the greatest of them all, while Marc Overmars and Robin van Persie were key players as well.

All three of the above names were outstanding in attack on their day, and they won several games for Arsenal on their own.

However, none of them get into Gakpo’s Mount Rushmore – another former Arsenal player does.

Cody Gakpo says he loved watching Thierry Henry at Arsenal

Thierry Henry is Arsenal’s greatest ever player.

The legendary Frenchman was brought to North London by Arsene Wenger in 1999, and he became a huge hit at Highbury.

Henry went on to become Arsenal’s record goalscorer, and he has been inducted into the Premier League’s Hall of Fame as well.

Speaking on Rising Ballers, when asked to name his Mount Rushmore of footballers, the Liverpool forward picked Henry before anyone else.

He said: “I will go with Henry.

“Obviously, in the Premier League, iconic for everybody. For me personally as well, because I just loved how he played and everything.

“So he will be on there for sure. And he was an attacker and I’m an attacker, so that makes it a little bit more easy.”

Thierry Henry’s record as an Arsenal player

Henry was and still is an idol to many Arsenal supporters.

The World Cup winner was unplayable on his day and made world-class defenders look average on many occasions while playing for the Gunners.

In 2008, after eight years as an Arsenal player, Henry decided to leave the club, and Wenger sold him to Barcelona for a fee in the region of £16 million (BBC).

The French icon played 121 games for the Catalans, scored 49 goals, provided 27 assists and won seven trophies, including the Champions League.
