Who is coming in and who is going out?
OUT: Alexis Sanchez – Most of us knew going into the January transfer window that Alexis Sanchez will not be an Arsenal player by the 1st of February. The Chilean has had a very successful 3 years at The Gunners picking up 2 FA Cups and many more achievements. His past year and a half or so hasn’t been going so well, despite scoring against Chelsea in the cup final and winning the cup to go with it. Alexis’ nation, Chile, failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup which really affected the Chilean in a bad way. Sanchez is a winner, he doesn’t want to be in a team that isn’t capable with competing for the Premier League. So he has made his decision to go to one of Arsenal’s biggest rivals, Manchester United! The fee is meant to be around £14million plus a player we will talk about soon… A variety of sources claim Sanchez will be earning up to £275,000 a week at The Devils! That’s £130,000 more than his current contract at Arsenal. Do you think Arsene Wenger could have done better to prevent a top player going to a rival club again? Tweet us @ArsenalInsider as we would love to hear what you have to say!
OUT: Theo Walcott – It’s been a very, very, very long 12 years at Arsenal for Theo Walcott. The forward has scored 65 Premier League goals for The Gunners and has helped them win 3 FA Cups in his time. It will be a very emotional loss for fans as when Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri, Robin Van Persie etc. left, they left with no shame. He is on his way to Everton for a fee of £20million. He took every opportunity possible and it will be painful seeing him wearing a different shirt. Thanks for everything Theo.
IN: Henrick Mhikatarian – As I said earlier, there was going to be a player involved in the Sanchez deal. Mhikatarian is the man. With the Armenian not living up to the standards he was set at one of the biggest clubs in the world, Jose Mourinho looks as though he will let him go without a thought! Mhikitarian has only scored 5 Premier League goals for United in 39 appearances. This in no way shows how class Mhikitarian was at his former club Borrusia Dortmund. The season before he left he picked up 31 assists, most of the assists were finished off thanks to a man, again, we will talk about later! Are you happy about Mhikitarian being involved in a swap deal for Sanchez? Tweet us @ArsenalInsider what you think!
IN: Malcolm – According to a variety of different reports, Arsenal are closing in on a deal for the Brazilian and Bordeaux winger Malcolm for a record fee of £45million. Malcolm (Malcolm Filipe Silva de Oliviera, hence why we all call him ‘Malcolm’) joined one of the biggest leagues in the world back in 2016. He signed for Ligue 1 club Bordeaux from Brazilian League side Corinthians. Malcolm instantly began to impress, the skills, pace, and absolute beauty of a left foot caught the eyes of many top clubs. One of those clubs are indeed, Arsenal. Malcolm’s agent, Leonardo Cornacini, has recently posted a picture of him and his representatives in London and the picture was liked by Malcolm himself! Malcolm’s mum also posted on Facebook (in Portuguese of course): “Love from Brazil to London”.
IN: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – At the start of the January transfer window, Arsenal were linked with Aubameyang but the speculation was completely destroyed when Arsene Wenger came out and said in a press conference: “The signing is impossible.” It’s not now is it Mr.Wenger?! Aubameyang is mostly known for his pace and his clinical finishing, he has scored 13 league goals in 15 starts this season for Dortmund which is very impressive. Despite all the goals he has and is scoring, he has recently been dropped for disciplinary issues. Aubameyang is nearly 30. Personally, I think he still has a lot of years left to keep banging goals in!
Arsenal vs Crystal Palace Preview
TEAM NEWS: Aaron Ramsey is back in the squad at last after he picked up an injury a few weeks ago which gave him a mini setback. The Welshmen was subbed on in the embarrassing performance at the Vitality Stadium where Arsenal lost 2-1 to AFC Bournemouth. Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac look as though they won’t be getting back into the side for a couple of games as they still both have slight knocks. Olivier Giroud could potentially be back in the squad for the Carabao Cup game against Chelsea on the 24th of January.
Where the teams currently sit in the table:
Arsenal – 6th Crystal Palace – 12th
GD – +9 GD – -12
PTS – 39 PTS – 25
My prediction:
Arsenal 2-0 Crystal Palace
‘Lacazette
‘Wilshere
