Pundit Danny Murphy is particularly impressed with one bit of business Arsenal have done this summer.
The former midfielder is one of many in the media to share their opinions on Arsenal ahead of the new season.
Though the consensus is that Liverpool will retain the title, not all talk has been about the Gunners’ title chances.
Another trending topic has been Arsenal’s new signings, with some positive and negative views on what Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta have been up to this summer.

Danny Murphy is a big fan of Christian Norgaard
Fellow BBC pundit Glenn Murray shared a worrying verdict on Viktor Gyokeres, but Murphy shed a positive light on Arsenal’s business.
When discussing Arsenal’s work in the transfer market, Murphy opened up about the significance of the Gunners’ capture of Christian Norgaard.
“Equally as important,” Murphy said when asked if other signings are as important as Gyokeres’ arrival.
“I think Thomas Partey was a huge player for them last season. I also think because Jorginho is gone, bringing Norgaard in is a clever bit of business.”
Arsenal chose Norgaard over Joao Palhinha, who has since signed for Tottenham.
The early input from the Dane suggests that Berta made the right choice, as Norgaard has been impressive in pre-season.
Continuing his praise of Arsenal’s decision to sign Norgaard, Murphy explained why fans should be excited about his arrival.
“I’m a big fan of Norgaard; he’s a really clever footballer, does his defensive work, and I know it was a bit underwhelming for Arsenal fans, but when you lose your central midfielders and bring in two of that quality, that’s really important for depth.”
Martin Zubimendi represented the top-quality acquisition to become a starter in Arteta’s midfield, while Norgaard came in to fill the void left by Jorginho.

Norgaard was up with the best last season at Brentford
There are plenty of reasons for Arsenal fans to be excited about the £10m arrival.
Firstly, Norgaard snubbed Spurs to sign for Arsenal, which is always a plus; however, there’s a far more prominent reason why the Dane represents a good signing.
| Statistic | Per 90 average | Rank in Premier League |
| Interceptions | 1.56 | Top 8% |
| Shots blocked | 0.64 | Top 5% |
| Aerials won % | 62.0% | Top 12% |
| Dribblers tackled | 1.53 | Top 13% |
| Shot on target % | 38.5% | Top 13% |
As seen above, Norgaard ranked among the very best midfielders in the Premier League last season, showing what he can offer to Arteta’s squad.
It’s a top capture from the Gunners and one that Murphy believes could make a huge difference.
