David Ornstein has shared what he’s been hearing about Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze’s prior interest in Arsenal ahead of his impending move to the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners have won the race for Eze, agreeing a £68million deal with Palace for the England star on Friday.
Better still, Arsenal made a mockery of Tottenham Hotspur, who were also in the picture for Eze but failed to make the most of their pole position.
However, it may well be the case that Eze’s heart was always with Arsenal, based on what David Ornstein has now said about the player’s questions to teammates.

Eberechi Eze reportedly asked whether Arsenal were in for him along with Mikel Arteta interest
Ornstein, speaking on The Athletic FC podcast, touched upon the fact that Eberechi Eze is said to be a fan of Arsenal.
The journalist then revealed that, based on “multiple conversations” he has heard, Eze was regularly asking about whether Arsenal were interested in him.
“He is said to be a fan of the club,” Ornstein began.
“And from what I hear in multiple conversations, he was asking people over a long period of time, ‘Are Arsenal there? Does Mikel Arteta want me?”
“He was pushing teammates and things like that to try and explore this situation.
“So I think there would have been a bit of residual intrigue on his part of whether this would ever come about.”

What Eberechi Eze has already said about his love for Arsenal
Back in 2018, Eze revealed in an interview with Alessandro Morolli-Schiavone that Arsenal were his favourite team.
“I just supported them from [a] young [age], the way they play… I played with them when I was younger as well,” said Eze, who played for QPR at the time.
“When I was younger, I used to love Thierry Henry, and that’s sort of why I decided to sign there [as a youth player].”
“Obviously to play for the club you support, that’s what I wanted to do… I’ve grown a love for the team.”
