Legendary former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman has sent a warning to Emile Smith Rowe.
Emile Smith Rowe may well be frustrated with his lack of game time at Arsenal. His appearance against Brentford in an EFL Cup third round match on Wednesday evening marked his first start for the Gunners in 499 days. It was also his 100th appearance for the north London club in total.
Fitness issues have been a major contributor to the 23-year-old’s recent lack of game time. However, the form of the likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, and Fabio Vieira has also severely limited his opportunities.
It would not be a surprise if Smith Rowe has considered leaving the Emirates Stadium in order to seek more regular game time elsewhere.
However, Mikel Arteta has made it abundantly clear that he has no intention of letting Smith Rowe go. Iconic ex-Arsenal shot-stopper David Seaman has also warned the three-cap England international against the notion of seeking pastures new.
Speaking the Express, Seaman said, “he’s had injuries. He’ll be dying to get on the pitch, but it shouldn’t be a case of ‘Oh, I’m not playing, shall I go away?’. Trust me, when you leave Arsenal, you realise how good Arsenal is. It’s a fantastic club. I don’t want to see players like that, who have come through the ranks, leave the club.”

Emile Smith Rowe can still be a star for Arsenal
Smith Rowe is certainly a fan favourite at Arsenal. The Hale End academy graduate has previously enjoyed a starring role for the club under Arteta. In the 2021/22 Premier League campaign, the attacking midfielder made 33 appearances and scored 10 goals.
His career has hit a rough patch since then, but if he can now maintain his fitness and get back to his best, Smith Rowe can still be a key figure for this Arsenal side. He will get opportunities this season, and he has the natural talent to take them. Now he needs to show that he has the mentality needed to seriously fight for his place and his future at the club.
Smith Rowe offers a unique profile in this Arsenal squad, with his running power in central areas, and ability to time late darts into the opposition box. It would be a huge boost for Arteta to see the £40,000-a-week ace back to his best for Arsenal.
