Declan Rice has now opened up about one physical ability he possesses which came to light during his Arsenal medical exam.
Declan Rice was subjected to numerous medical tests and physical examinations during the process of signing for Arsenal.
The Gunners shelled out a club-record £105 million to prise the midfielder away from West Ham United in the most recent summer transfer window.
Of course, there are a lot of elements that go into getting such a deal over the line, including passing a full medical to give the buying club assurances that the player isn’t carrying any undisclosed injuries or health problems.
Rice has now given an insight into how the process was conducted as he completed his switch to the Emirates Stadium, and one attribute which came to the club’s attention during this phase.
Declan Rice reveals results of Arsenal medical
In a recent interview with Men’s Health, Rice said: “When I signed for Arsenal and we did all the medical tests, mobility was one of my biggest strengths. It’s crazy – I’m really, really flexible. Most people in the sport don’t have the same range. I don’t know why I’m built like that, but when I’m tackling, it allows my legs to go into positions that look a bit weird. It feels natural to me.”

Mikel Arteta’s side have certainly enjoyed the benefits of Rice’s supernatural flexibility this season. The England star is a brilliant ball-winner in the middle of the park, and is often able to break up opposition attacks with tackles that clearly make use of his natural malleability.
How Mikel Arteta has elevated Declan Rice
The former West Ham United man has been a revelation for the North London club this season. He arrived with a reputation as one of the best defensive-midfielders in the Premier League, but has taken his game to a whole new level under the guidance of Arteta.
He has shown that he can have an impact at both ends of the pitch, as he has enjoyed the best season of his career to date in front of goal, chipping in with seven goals and ten assists, across all competitions. Arteta encouraged Rice to take up a more advanced role and that tactical tweak has paid off handsomely.
Rice has also been the man for the big moment at Arsenal this season. He snatched last-gasp winners against both Manchester United and Luton Town.
He will be keen to kick on again next season. Rice has promised Arsenal fans that the best is yet to come for this Arsenal team.
