Arsenal’s recent results suggest a team low on confidence.

The Gunners have lost each of their last three domestic games, including the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City and the FA Cup quarter-final against Southampton. Their latest setback came in the Premier League against Bournemouth in what was arguably the worst performance of the lot.

Those results have raised serious questions about their mentality at a crucial stage of the season, and it wouldn’t be wrong to assume that the confidence inside the dressing room has taken a big hit.

However, Declan Rice has now revealed that the reality is the complete opposite.

Declan Rice says Arsenal’s confidence is high despite recent defeats

Despite the disappointing run of results domestically, Arsenal’s players have not let it affect their belief.

Rice, who is one of the leaders at the club, has revealed that the mood within the squad is actually still extremely positive.

The Englishman pointed out that their first-leg win over Sporting CP away from home in the Champions League has helped maintain that, and the energy in the training ground this week has been very high because of that.

He said on Stadium Astro: “The team is feeling top. Confidence is top. Training’s been very good.

“We obviously won in the Champions League against Sporting, an amazing side who have had such a great year in their stadium.

“So confidence has been high after that. Obviously, didn’t want to be knocked out of the cup, but we moved on really well, we have reacted well, and now we have a massive game.

“The energy has been amazing this week. It’s been really good.”

Arsenal’s mindset could define their season

At this stage of the campaign, mentality is just as important as quality.

Arsenal are still in a strong position in the Premier League and remain alive in the Champions League. That means there is still everything to play for.

If the players truly believe in themselves, as Rice suggests, they have a great chance of bouncing back quickly against Sporting in the second leg as well as at the Etihad on Sunday.

These two games will define Arsenal’s season, and their mindset heading into both fixtures will say a lot about how good they are.

We hope Arteta can get the best out of these players because it feels like now or never.
