Liverpool star Diogo Jota has played against Arsenal on several occasions in the past.
The Portugal international is a terrific player. He was great for Wolves when he was there and he has come up with some huge goals for Liverpool as well.
Jota has a fantastic record against Arsenal. He has scored eight goals against the Gunners over the years – only against Leicester City he has managed more.
However, the Liverpool attacker has admitted that playing against one Arsenal player is not easy at all.
Diogo Jota picks Arsenal’s William Saliba among three of the toughest defenders he has played against
Arsenal star William Saliba is up there with the best defenders in the world.
The Frenchman has entered his sixth year on Arsenal’s books, but he has only been playing for the Gunners since the start of the 2022/23 season.
Saliba has been magnificent in almost every game he has played under Mikel Arteta, and very few attackers have got the better of him over the years.
Jota has faced Saliba three times, but the Portugal international has never scored in those games. He has ended up on the losing side in two of those three fixtures as well.
In a video on ESPN, Jota was asked to name the three toughest defenders he has ever come up against.
The Liverpool forward picked Thiago Silva, Saliba and Antonio Rudiger, but his comments suggest that the Arsenal man is the perfect hybrid of the other two.
Jota said: “I’ll go Rudiger, Saliba maybe and Thiago Silva.
“Thiago is very smart, Saliba is just a mix of smart and powerful, and Rudiger is very aggressive.”
William Saliba injury update
Saliba is one of Arsenal’s most important players, but he has been unavailable recently.
The Frenchman missed the Premier League clash against Aston Villa and the game in the Champions League against Dinamo Zagreb.
Arsenal fans have been worried, but Mikel Arteta confirmed that Saliba’s injury is a minor one, and he should be back in action very soon.
It remains to be seen if Saliba will be fit enough to play against Wolves on Saturday afternoon.
