Dominik Szoboszlai claims the Arsenal and Manchester City players ‘think’ they can win the Premier League title and warns Liverpool to avoid getting too carried away.

Just one point currently separates the top three in the table through 28 games with Arsenal only narrowly heading Liverpool. Goal difference separates the north London club and their Merseyside rivals with Manchester City lurking over their shoulders one mere point behind.

Arsenal have the best offence and defence in the Premier League so far this season, with 70 goals scored to 24 conceded for a division-best +46 goal difference. Liverpool boast a goal difference of +39 (65 goals, 26 allowed) to Manchester City on +35 (63 goals, 28 shipped).

A stunning run of form since their winter break in January has allowed Arsenal to move atop every Premier League table. They are the only top-flight team to win all eight matches since the pause in action. Mikel Arteta’s men have also scored 33 times to just four conceded, too.

Arsenal were only fourth in the table before jetting off to Dubai for a warm-weather training camp. They also trailed table-toppers Liverpool by five points and only had the seventh-best offence (37 goals). But only the Reds (18) had conceded fewer goals than the Gunners (20).

Szoboszlai now expects Arsenal – and three-time reigning champions Manchester City – will be thinking they can beat Liverpool and win the 2023/24 Premier League title. The 23-year-old is in his first top-flight title race in England after joining the Reds from RB Leipzig in July.

The Hungarian also warns his Anfield side that Jurgen Klopp’s team have a lot of fixtures still to play. While Szoboszlai is relishing the feeling of chasing a potential quadruple, he accepts Liverpool cannot get too carried away and must work to deny Arsenal and Manchester City.

“It’s a good feeling,” Szoboszlai said, via the Mirror. “We won already one and we have three more left. Me, personally, I want to win all four. But we have to look game by game.

“We cannot look that far to the end of the season because there’s a long way to go [with] a lot of games [in] Europe, [the] FA Cup on Sunday and then after the national team break, the Premier League starts again. But I think we are ready.

“I think we have a quite good chance but I think everyone thinks like this. If you ask the City players, they would think they have a good chance [or] the Arsenal players would think they have a good chance.

“Me? I think we have a good chance but we have to work for it. It’s not coming from the air and jumping into our hands, the title. We have to work in every game [and] give your best.”
