Arsenal sporting director Edu has responded to Kai Havertz on social media.
Kai Havertz opened his Arsenal goalscoring account with a well-taken penalty against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon. The strike was the Gunners’ third, on their way to a dominant 4-0 victory at the Vitality Stadium.
Having endured a tricky period since his £65 million arrival at the Emirates Stadium in the recent summer transfer window, Havertz will be relieved to now be off the mark for the north London club.
Despite his early struggles, Arsenal have kept faith in the 24-year-old. Mikel Arteta has shown his trust in the player, by keeping him in and around the starting XI. The club’s fans also gave the player a huge ovation, featuring a catchy chant, after he scored against the Cherries.
Now, Edu has publicly gotten behind the £280,000-a-week Germany international.

Everyone at Arsenal is rooting for Havertz
After the win against the south coast club, Havertz made a celebratory Instagram post, saying, “Solid team performance. Appreciate all the support today from my teammates and the travelling fans. Means a lot.”
Edu responded to this post with four emojis, including applauding hands and a bicep.
It is naturally beneficial to Edu for Havertz to come good for Arsenal, given the key role he plays in the club’s recruitment process. The Brazilian will be judged on the basis of how the Gunners fare in the transfer market, and he will face criticism if Havertz turns out to be an expensive flop.
The 39-cap Germany international now looks to be settling in at the club, though. He will take great confidence from his goal against Bournemouth, and Edu, Arteta, and the Arsenal fans will all be hoping that he can kick on from here.
If he can hit his best form, then Havertz has the capacity to be a star for Arsenal this season, and the decision to sign him this summer could soon look like something of a masterstroke from Edu.
