The English Football League have responded to Pep Guardiola’s plea to have Marc Guehi available against Arsenal.
Man City have booked their spot in the Carabao Cup final, facing Arsenal in March.
After City beat Newcastle, Guardiola wasted no time talking about team news for the cup final at Wembley.
It was then that the Man City manager revealed his plan to question the EFL’s rule that marks Marc Guehi as ineligible for the final.
Now, the Spaniard has received an instant response from the EFL, who have denied the manager’s request.
As reported by Sky Sports, it’s understood that the EFL will NOT change its rules to allow Guehi to play in the final.
Be honest, if this rule impacted an Arsenal player, what would you think?
The rules are the rules, Pep 😴
Pep Guardiola will be fuming with Marc Guehi Carabao Cup final decision
The rules are rules, whether they were newly introduced or not.
This is the first season that players signed after the first leg of the semi-final will not be eligible to play for their new clubs in the remainder of the Carabao Cup.
Early predictions, who will come out on top when Arsenal face Man City at Wembley?
Still, Guardiola will be absolutely furious, as he shared his thoughts on the rule change after City’s win over Newcastle.
“Hopefully, you can convince the Carabao Cup that Marc Guehi can play in the final.
“It’s difficult to understand that the club who make a big investment to pay one player who belongs to us, and I don’t understand why he cannot play the final.”
The rule won’t be bent for Guardiola, to his dismay, ruling Guehi out of the clash with Arsenal.
