Arsenal’s priority target this summer is Morgan Rogers.

The Premier League champions are expected to make at least one statement signing, and there are several players of interest.

However, Rogers is said to be the man Mikel Arteta wants at the Emirates Stadium, but a deal to sign him will not be easy.

That’s because of Aston Villa’s massive asking price.

Emmanuel Petit is shocked by Aston Villa’s demands for Morgan Rogers from Arsenal

Morgan Rogers is Aston Villa’s biggest asset.

The Englishman is one of the best players in the Premier League and has the potential to be an absolute superstar for club and country.

Arsenal are right to want Rogers, and he wants to join the Gunners too, but that move will only happen if Aston Villa agree to sell him.

Their demand? Reports have claimed that Rogers’ price tag has been set at a staggering £130 million.

Emmanuel Petit was informed of that figure on TalkSPORT, and he was left speechless.

He said: “This is a ridiculous amount of money. I mean, since we got over the limit of £100million…

“Every single day, I see price tags on players that (make him say), ‘Wow, my God’. If you are willing to spend that kind of money on a single player that can make a difference…

“It’s been the case for Declan Rice (who joined in a £105m deal from West Ham United in 2023), he’s done well, very well.

“But, I wish him (Rogers) all the luck because that kind of price tag is huge pressure on your shoulders.”

Aston Villa could be forced to lower their demands for Morgan Rogers

Aston Villa are well within their rights to demand an absolute fortune for Rogers.

The 23-year-old signed a new long-term contract at the club in November last year, and that does not expire until the summer of 2031.

Villa are doing the right thing to keep him, but the trump card Arsenal hold is that Rogers wants to join the Gunners in this window.

If the player pushes for a move, history shows that the buying club will be at an advantage during transfer negotiations.

In this case, that is Arsenal, so there is every chance Villa will end up accepting a figure lower than £130 million.
