Arsenal have been drawn against Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals, and they will come up against some familiar faces.
Former Arsenal prodigy Serge Gnabry will return to the Emirates, whilst old foes Harry Kane and Eric Dier will be very keen to secure a victory given their allegiances to Tottenham Hotspur.
Whilst Kane moved to Bayern in a huge money deal as a star signing in search of major trophies, Dier was an outcast at Spurs prior to his shock move to Munich in January.
Bayern have fallen behind Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga title race, and look set to miss out on the title for the first time in over a decade, despite the additions of Kane and Dier.
Dier has now spoken about the upcoming Champions League clash between the two sides, and admitted his excitement about a return to North London.
Eric Dier opens up on Arsenal Champions League draw
Speaking to Bayern club media, Dier praised Arsenal but claimed that the tie was a good chance for his side to prove their critics wrong.
“It’s obviously special for me to return to England for a game so soon after moving to FC Bayern – and to North London, of all places,” he stated.
“It’s a great opportunity for us to show our quality at the highest level. Arsenal have a young team who are performing very well.”
Eric Dier’s record against Arsenal

Dier is likely to receive a hostile reception at the Emirates should he appear in the first leg, as he made himself a deeply unpopular figure during several North London derbies.
The Englishman appeared in 15 matches against Arsenal, winning five, drawing four and losing six, and scored once, in a 4-2 Arsenal victory at the Emirates in 2018.
Unai Emery’s side were 1-0 up when Dier scored an equaliser, and nearly started a brawl between both teams and benches, with Aaron Ramsey making his feelings known to the defender.
Arsenal then came back to win 4-2, with Alexandre Lacazette scoring via a deflection off Dier, and Ramsey ultimately had the last laugh.
The Gunners will be hoping that Dier’s return to the Emirates ends in a similarly comical fashion, and that Dier will not be able to keep the likes of Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz away from the Bayern box.
