Martin Odegaard completed his loan move from Real Madrid to Arsenal this morning. The Norwegian international will stay with us until the end of the season and he will be a massive help if he can perform as well as he did last term.

The 22-year-old scored seven goals and provided nine assists in what was a stunning campaign with Real Sociedad last season. If he can replicate that kind of form at the Emirates, Arsenal will finish the campaign in a strong fashion.

Odegaard was asked about his memories of watching Arsenal as a kid back in Norway and he has revealed that he was a massive fan of ex-Gunners skipper Cesc Fabregas.

He told Arsenal.com: “In Norway, the Premier League is really big. Since I was a little kid there, we always watched all the games, me and my friends.”

“I think it’s the biggest league, especially in Norway, so for me, it’s always been a dream to play in the Premier League and I always liked the way Arsenal played and everything about the club. So it’s a dream come true in many ways.”

“There were a lot [of Arsenal players I admired]. But I think Fabregas, for me, was one of my idols when I grew up. So especially him. The way he controls the game, the way he dictated the game, his ability to give assists and also score goals.”

“Everything about his game. I tried to learn as much as possible when I grew up watching him. He was the top player.”

Fabregas is a brilliant player to follow

A lot can be said about Cesc’s decision to join Chelsea from Barcelona, but nobody can deny what an incredible midfielder he was.

He led our side brilliantly during his time here as a skipper, and if Odegaard can reach the heights that Fabregas did in the Premier League, his loan spell will turn out to be a massively successful one.
