Arsenal wonderkid Ethan Nwaneri and former defender David Luiz have sent messages of support to a Hale End talent after being released by the Gunners.

This week has seen a number of Arsenal players officially leave the club following the expiration of their contracts, with Mohamed Elneny and Cedric Soares the two headline names, as well as Women’s superstar Vivianne Miedema.

As well as senior players being released, numerous academy prospects have also departed Hale End, with Tyreece John-Jules, Arthur Okonkwo and Kido Taylor-Hart amongst the names who will leave Arsenal as free-agents.

And one player has already drawn support from some high-profile names associated with Arsenal.

Catalin Cirjan showered with love after release from Arsenal

Taking to his official Instagram account, Romanian midfielder Catalin Cirjan left an emotional message after being named as one of the players released by Arsenal, with the 21-year-old failing to make a senior appearance for the Gunners.

Once lauded as an ‘excellent’ talent, the likes of Nwaneri and Luiz shared their reactions to Cirjan being released by Arsenal, with the playmaker spending this season back home in Romania with Rapid Bucuresti.

Cirjan wrote: “I joined the club as a kid and I left like a man. I have the best memories but I went through some very tough situations like my injuries. I fell but I always came back better and stronger but I couldn’t do all of this without the help and support from all the staff and players.

“I was so lucky to be able to play and learn from some of the best players in the world and the best coaches. Now it’s time to move on and start a new chapter in my career.”

Cirjan could benefit from a new start away from north London

Cirjan is one of those talent who could have followed in the path of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe in breaking into the senior squad after making a name for himself at Hale End.

Yet like with so many prospects, Arsenal’s first-team was simply too tall an order for a player like Cirjan, who could now benefit from a change of scenery this summer by joining a new team permanently.

Indeed, Cirjan is still regarded as one of the most exciting Romanian talents, and a move away from Arsenal and to a new home could be what’s needed for the playmaker to unlock his potential once and for all.
