The Europa League draw for the round of 16 has been scheduled, and Arsenal and Manchester United are among the two biggest sides left in the competition.
Mikel Arteta’s side finished on top of Group A, winning five of our six fixtures. That helped us avoid playing two extra games in the play-offs like Manchester United did over the last week.
Here’s everything we know about the Europa League draw.

Europa League draw: Time and where to watch
The Europa League draw for the round of 16 will take place today at 12:00 pm UK time in the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.
It will be streamed live on UEFA’s official website.
Who could Arsenal face?
Arsenal are among the eight seeded clubs in the Europa League draw today and there are seven clubs we could be drawn against.
Clubs eligible to play against the Gunners in the next round of the competition are:
- Juventus (Italy)
- Sporting Lisbon (Portugal)
- Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukraine)
- Union Berlin (Germany)
- Bayer Leverkusen (Germany)
- Sevilla (Spain)
- Roma (Italy)
The first leg is scheduled to be played on the 9th of March and the return leg will take place a week later, on the 16th of March.
Why can’t Arsenal face Manchester United?
Arsenal are in the seeded group, while Manchester United are among the unseeded clubs left in the competition.
Technically, the two sides should be in contention to face each other, but UEFA rules prohibit two clubs of the same country from playing against each other at this stage of the competition.
As a result, Arsenal and Manchester United will not be drawn against each other this afternoon, but the two sides could well meet later in the competition.
