Bukayo Saka did not receive an England call-up as the Arsenal winger continues to recover from surgery.

Saka returned to light training after being out of action since December due to a hamstring tear.

The Arsenal star has been missed greatly at the Emirates and will be a notable absence for Thomas Tuchel amid the March international break.

As expected, Saka isn’t one of the 14 Arsenal players on international duty this month, with full focus on recovering for the domestic challenges ahead.

Gary Lineker, Micah Richards and Alan Shearer in agreement about Bukayo Saka

As Arsenal learned their fate in the Champions League, with Real Madrid awaiting the Gunners, Saka will be eyeing a return in time for the blockbuster clash.

The winger’s injury was devastating for Mikel Arteta, just as it will be for Tuchel, who is getting to know his England squad over the break.

Ahead of the Three Lions’ matches against Albania and Latvia, the England squad was the focus of the latest episode of The Rest Is Football.

During the podcast, Micah Richards, Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker were asked to choose three players from a list of ten England forwards.

“You can only pick three; Palmer, Saka, Foden, Bowen, Maddison, Elliott, Eze, Bellingham, Rogers, Gibbs-White,” Lineker said.

Shearer responded instantly, “Saka, Bellingham, Rogers.”

Arsenal fans will certainly agree with what Lineker said next, insisting that Saka would be on everyone’s list.

“Everyone in the world I think would go Bellingham and Saka, I think it’s between Foden or Palmer for the other one.”

Richards agreed with Saka and Jude Bellingham’s dominance, throwing Phil Foden in the mix.

“Saka, Bellingham, Foden,” the former Manchester City defender said.

Saka’s record for England

Saka saved his season by undergoing surgery at the earliest convenience after suffering a hamstring tear at Selhurst Park, which is a relief for both his club and country.

For now, the 23-year-old will rest and recover for the challenges ahead, with a strong record for Arsenal and England to maintain.

The Hale End graduate has 43 caps to his name, with 12 international goals, four of which came at major tournaments.

With the World Cup coming in 2026, Saka will be eyeing silverware for his country in Tuchel’s exciting England squad, where he’s expected to be a star member.
