Everyone inside Tottenham are terrified of him, now Arsenal are plotting a move to sign him

Every transfer window has at least one crazy rumour, and this summer is no different.

Arsenal are active on the market, looking for new players, and they need reinforcements in multiple areas of their pitch.

Most of the excitement centres on the prospect of a new attacker, with players like Vinicius Jr and Julian Alvarez linked with moves.

But Arsenal need a new defender too following William Saliba’s injury, and the most surprising name to come out of the rumour mill is Cristian Romero of Tottenham.

Be honest: How will you react if Arsenal signed Tottenham captain Cristian Romero?

Tottenham players are terrified of Arsenal-linked Cristian Romero

Transfers between Arsenal and Tottenham almost never happen.

The two North London rivals share a very fierce rivalry, and fans of either club would hate seeing one of their players join the other.

Yet, a shock report from Italy has linked Arsenal with a sensational move for Romero, who is expected to leave Tottenham this summer.

This move is very unlikely to happen, but it would be funny to see the reaction of Spurs fans and even their players, who are all said to be scared of the Argentine.

Former Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou revealed that nobody dared to get in Romero’s way inside the club when he was in charge – not even himself!

He said on Stick to Football earlier this year: “I love him. I love him, and he does play on the edge, but, mate, he’d scare people at training and I love the way he talks.

“I mean, would you rather have Roy [Keane] in your team or against you?

“I mean, we’d never have won that (Europa League) final without Romero. I mean, kick-off’s about to happen, and he’s taking our team into Man Utd’s half for the huddle because our supporters are down that end. He’s not scared of anything, mate. He’s a winner. I love winners.

“Now, does he cross the line? Yeah, he does. You know, he’d cross the line at training sometimes, and the coaches would go, ‘oh, you know’, I’d go ‘well, you go tell him, I’m not telling him’.

“But you need that mentality in a group. Now, how you control that, you need to harness that. They respect him, honestly. They fear him. You know, you don’t want to get on his [bad side].”

Who should replace William Saliba at Arsenal if his injury rules him out for months?

Nobody at Arsenal would be scared of Cristian Romero

We can write a long list of flaws in Romero’s ability on the pitch, attitude and discipline, but he definitely has a winner’s mentality.

However, we’re sure he wouldn’t dare to behave the same way if he ever joined Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta is a disciplinarian and has built a culture that’s filled with respect and togetherness. There’s absolutely no way he would let anyone cross a line, especially not Romero.

The Arsenal boss didn’t care about pushing players like Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out when they crossed lines, so he’d not even be a little scared about doing the same to Romero.

The same can be said about the Arsenal players, who are all Premier League champions. If this transfer ever happens, Romero will be made to keep his antics to himself, and he’d have no choice but to fall in line.

That being said, we think there’s zero chance that this transfer goes through, because, for starters, Arsenal can do better, and secondly, the Gunners would never do any business with Spurs.
