Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus has hit out at some of the refereeing decisions that occurred in the game against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The Gunners were the better side for most parts of the game last weekend, but we still ended up on the losing side. One of the main talking points was VAR and the referee’s decision to disallow Gabriel Martinelli’s excellent goal. Jesus believes that changed the game.

From after the first 10 minutes until United scored their second goal, Arsenal were undoubtedly the more dominant side. We were better than the hosts in every department – apart from finishing, which is why they won the game.
However, if Martinelli’s goal in the first half was allowed to stand, it would’ve been a completely different story.
Speaking after the clash at Old Trafford, Jesus told ESPN Brasil: “We came here to play our game. I think they could see that we played well, we controlled.
“The first two goals we conceded, we were better in the match. Not to mention some things that happened that totally changed the course of the match.
“But I didn’t come here to talk about refereeing, that sort of thing. But everyone saw.”

Mikel Arteta demanded consistency from the referees after the game, and we completely agree with the Arsenal boss.
Just last week, Bukayo Saka wasn’t given a penalty even though Tyrone Mings all but lifted him up and threw him to the ground. In the same game, Aaron Ramsdale was impeded in goal, but no foul was given there either.
On both of those occasions, the players did not get any of the ball, but the referees deemed those tackles as soft. On Sunday, however, when Martin Odegaard did something similar, he was adjudged to have fouled Christian Eriksen, and that cost us a goal.
Jesus is right, that really changed the course of the game, but there’s nothing we can do now.
