Ex-Arsenal FA Cup winner now put up for sale after just 18 months in surprise decision

Former Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette may now be sold by French side Lyon just 18 months into his second spell at the club.

Lacazette returned to France having left Arsenal under Mikel Arteta and had started in incredible goal-scoring form.

And despite slowing down this season, Lacazette still has 30 goals in 45 games for Lyon – a side he is now captaining.

However, according to a report by Le Progres, Lyon may now be prepared to sell former Arsenal striker Lacazette along with Corentin Tolisso.

Lyon are having a shocking season and currently sit bottom of Ligue 1 – a story that is rocking French football.

And according to this report, it seems as though Lacazette is now shouldering some of the blame.

The striker has been in and out of the side this season, and the club seemingly can no longer justify his wages.

Moreover, Lacazette is also reportedly struggling in training, a sticky situation all round.

Now 32-years-old, Lacazette did leave Arsenal on very good terms.

The era of Lacazette dovetailing with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang does now feel a long time ago, but does have its place in Arsenal history.

And it probably won’t sit well with a lot of fans that Lacazette is no longer enjoying a happy home-coming at Lyon.

It looked like the story-book ending for a player who was excellent in North London at times.

And although Lyon are clearly struggling, it would seem harsh to blame Lacazette whilst looking at the situation from the outside.

However, should Lacazette be made available by Lyon as this report suggests, the former Arsenal striker shouldn’t be short of suitors.

As well as knowing how to find the back of the net, the former French international is known to build an incredible connection with fans.

And on that note, many will expect that he’s not done fighting for his boyhood club just yet.
