Fabrizio Romano has revealed today that there are two Premier League midfielders Arsenal are keeping an eye on ahead of the summer transfer window – Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.
It is no secret that one of our priorities before the start of next season is strengthening our midfield. Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka and Jorginho will all be over the age of 30, and the Gunners need to look ahead.
Declan Rice is our priority transfer target and rightly so, but Romano says there are now two other Premier League midfielders who are on Mikel Arteta‘s wish list.

Why Pele Is Overrated.
Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal are keen on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia
Arsenal were heavily linked with a move to sign Caicedo in January.
Sky Sports revealed that we even tabled two bids to bring the Ecuador international to the Emirates Stadium, but Brighton just refused to budge, and we turned to Jorginho instead.
Romano has now claimed that Arsenal are still ‘very keen‘ to sign Caicedo this summer. However, he’s not the only name on the list – Southampton star Lavia is there too.
The former Manchester City man has had an unbelievable campaign at St Mary’s. He has arguably been their best player this season, and it’s only a matter of time before he moves to a bigger club.
City have a buy-back clause on Lavia for £40 million, but that can only be triggered in the summer of 2024 at the earliest.
The Insider’s View:
Going by all the reports over the last few weeks, it looks like Arsenal’s plan is to sign Declan Rice and one other midfielder this summer.
That, if Romano is to be believed, could either be Lavia or Caicedo.
Neither of them will walk into our team if we sign one of them next summer, but they’re both exceptional players who could complete our midfield for the better part of the next decade.
We’d be delighted with either Lavia or Caicedo along with Rice this summer, but if really have to pick one, the Brighton man would probably edge it.
