Fabrizio Romano now drops update on Arsenal’s interest in Aurelien Tchouameni

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that there is no truth to the rumours that Arsenal will sign Aurelien Tchouameni.

Arsenal have recently been linked with a move for Real Madrid midfielder Aurielien Tchouameni.

It’s bad news for any fans who were hoping to see the 23-year-old strutting his stuff at the Emirates Stadium any time soon though, as journalist Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that there is no reason to believe that the Gunners will secure the services of the Frenchman.

Writing in his Daily Briefing, Romano stated “my understanding for now is that Arsenal have not decided anything yet about a new midfielder, and there’s nothing to the links with Aurelian Tchouameni – no talks, no proposals, or anything like that.”

The reporter did state, though, that the north London club may well be looking to replace Thomas Partey in the near future.

The time has certainly come for Mikel Arteta to move on from Partey. The Ghanian’s persistent fitness issues are making him a burden on the club.

Arsenal have to accept Aurelien Tchouameni is beyond their reach

Tchouameni, were he to be available, would be a brilliant signing for Arsenal to make. The 29-cap France international is an elite talent who would bring so much quality to the middle of the park for the Gunners.

It probably has to be accepted, though, that Tchouameni simply isn’t a viable target for Arsenal at this time. Given Real Madrid paid £85.3 million to secure his services from Monaco in the summer of 2022, and he has since established himself as a key player at the Santiago Bernabeu, he would be prohibitively expensive.

There are far more attainable targets who Arsenal can focus their efforts on luring to the Emirates Stadium. In the short term, new acquisitions in the middle of the park may not be a priority for Arteta either. Arsenal may be wise to source a top class new striker in the upcoming January transfer window instead.

In any case, any thoughts of Tchouameni making a move to Arsenal must be forgotten. It simply isn’t going to happen.
