Ethan Nwaneri could end up leaving Arsenal before his career even gets going and Fabrizio Romano has revealed two big European clubs have eyes on him.
The teenager is currently with Marseille on loan but is expected back at London Colney this summer, where a decision will be made on his future.
Along with Myles Lewis-Skelly, Nwaneri may be sold by Arsenal for ‘pure profit’ to help with PSR and other financial rules.
And when it comes to Nwaneri, it seems Arsenal won’t be short of interested parties.
What do you think of Arsenal fans booing their own team vs Bournemouth?
Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund among frontrunners for Ethan Nwaneri
A player of Nwaneri’s talent is always going to attract attention. He is a young player with a huge upside and Arsenal will know they could be letting a major future star go if they do sell.
In that regard, Arsenal will want big money for their man and according to Fabrizio Romano, it is Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund who admire Nwaneri the most.
“Many questions also on Ethan Nwaneri situation and Marseille guys, now it’s complicated but at Arsenal for the summer transfer window because Nwaneri is at Marseille on loan, no buy option, he’s not going to stay at Marseille next season he’s going back to Arsenal but what’s going to happen in the summer transfer window many questions on reports saying Nwaneri will go to Dortmund and Nwaneri is leaving Arsenal on a permanent transfer,” Romano explained.
“Dortmund wanted on a permanent transfer from Arsenal already one year ago when Arsenal were negotiating a new contract with one and at the end they were successful in reaching an agreement.
“There was Chelsea very interested and Dortmund these two clubs. So interest especially from Dortmund remains very strong in Nwaneri. There are several clubs around Europe attentive to the situation. At the moment Arsenal have not communicated anything to the player.
“So they didn’t tell the player in this camp okay you can leave in the summer. So that’s not the case at the moment. It’s still not decided. At the end of the season Arsenal will assess the situation with Nwaneri. Not today.”
Why Arsenal should stick with Ethan Nwaneri for now
As of right now, we feel that there’s a stronger argument to sell Lewis-Skelly for big money than there is to sell Nwaneri.
Lewis-Skelly has already made an impact on the first-team but he has not progressed as many expected this season, with Mikel Arteta clearly bumping him down the pecking order too.

As for Nwaneri, he is still very much in the early days of his career and while he’s made appearances for the first-team, he’s not had a run to really show what he can do.
With Max Dowman also emerging, Arsenal may feel that selling Nwaneri allows them to get money for more flexibility in the market.
However, surely the idea of featuring both Dowman and Nwaneri in the first-team at some point down the line appeals as well? These are two amazing young talents who Arsenal have nurtured from kids into first-team players.
Selling Nwaneri, especially to Chelsea, would feel like a backwards step in all honesty.
