FC Zurich manager Bo Henriksen has claimed that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta issued an apology to him after the Europa League game last week.

The Gunners were made to work hard by the Swiss giants at the Emirates. An early Kieran Tierney goal got us the win, but we could easily have lost that game if things hadn’t gone our way.

FC Zurich manager says Arsenal’s Arteta apologised to him after EL game

Arteta is a very animated figure on the touchline at the best of times. So, you can imagine how he was when we weren’t playing at our best against Zurich last week.

Henriksen was not too far away from the Spaniard and he wasn’t a happy man. He revealed that Arteta was inciting Arsenal’s players, which he believes is something the Gunners boss shouldn’t have done.

However, the Zurich boss’ anger was short-lived. He revealed that immediately after the game, Arteta came to him and apologised for his antics on the touchline.

Henriksen told TipsBladet: “We had some controversies in the match, where I thought he should have done some things differently because he incited his players.

“But, like the fantastic guy he is, he came over after the game and said sorry.

“I told him that such is life, but it is fantastic that he is coming. I also told him to take it easy. I have more mistakes than he can dream of. It was a great meeting with a man of class and energy. He has lots of form.”

The Insider’s View:

Arteta’s antics on the touchline are funny sometimes, but it just shows how passionate he is. He lives and breathes the game from the sides, and it’s brilliant to watch.

The Gunners boss’ instructions to his players during the games have been really beneficial too. We can all see how much the players have improved under his guidance, and that’s why we are where we are.

We understand why Henriksen was upset. If you don’t love Arteta and Arsenal, his behaviour on the touchline may annoy you a bit. However, he does what he does to help his side, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Arsenal take on Wolves tomorrow in the final game before the World Cup. We don’t know what will happen on the pitch, but we’re sure Arteta will jump around his technical area on multiple occasions during the 90 minutes.
