Some Arsenal fans expressed their anger at Mikel Arteta on Twitter last night after Cedric Soares was omitted from the Portugal squad for the upcoming European Championships.

The former Southampton man filled in for Kieran Tierney at left-back for over a month earlier this year, and he performed fairly well. He did more than what was expected of him in an unnatural position, but things suddenly changed.

Cedric hasn’t played a single minute of football in the Premier League since our loss to Liverpool at the start of last month. He has been on the bench in every single game, but Arteta just stopped using him for some reason.

The Arsenal boss preferred Granit Xhaka over him at left-back.

The Swiss international performed reasonably well too, but it was really harsh on Cedric, and that has now cost the 29-year-old the opportunity to represent his country next month.

Arsenal fans were really disappointed to see Cedric omitted from the Portugal squad. Some Gooners believe that this is entirely Arteta’s fault, which is slightly harsh considering that the Spaniard is here to do what’s best for the club, not what’s required for a national team.
