Arsenal players returned to London Colney for pre-season training on Wednesday and forgotten man Sead Kolasinac turned up as well.
The Bosnian spent the second half of last season on loan at Schalke. He was joined by Shkodran Mustafi there and the pair had a terrible few months together in Gelsenkirchen. The Royal Blues released the German, but they were reportedly desperate to keep hold of Kolasinac.
However, Schalke’s relegation meant that they had to cut down their wage bill considerably, and Kolasinac’s salary demands proved to be a bit too much for them. That rules out a return to the Veltins Arena, but his future is still up in the air.

Sead Kolasinac returns to Arsenal, but he will be sold
Kolasinac, signed by Arsene Wenger on a free transfer in the summer of 2017, came in with a lot of hype. His aggressiveness, stature and his style of play made people believe that he was a brilliant fit for Arsenal, but that hype didn’t last long.
The Bosnian’s quality in the opposition third was very good, but he was constantly caught out defensively. That cost him his place in the side and at one point last season, he was behind Kieran Tierney, Bukayo Saka and Ainsley Maitland-Niles in the pecking order.

Kolasinac still has one year left on his contract and he was obligated to turn up for pre-season on Wednesday. That is why he’s back at London Colney, but it’s certain that he will be sold before the transfer window shuts at the end of August.
Some Arsenal fans were surprised to see Kolasinac back in Arsenal’s colours. A few even forgot that he still played for us, and we can’t really blame them, can we?
