One former Arsenal star has now revealed his true feelings about Pierre-Emerick Auabmeyang.

Having been a great goalscorer for Arsenal, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s career at the Emirates Stadium came to a bitter end.

The Gabonese striker arrived in North London in January 2018, and notched 10 goals in his first 13 Premier League games for the club. In total, he went on to rack up 92 goals in 163 appearances across all competitions, and played a starring role in 2020’s FA Cup triumph, bagging a brace in the final against Chelsea.

Mikel Arteta had only been in charge at Arsenal for a few months when that FA Cup was won, and Aubameyang was a vital player for the Spanish coach at that time. He was one of the bright lights in an otherwise largely underwhelming squad.

However, during the 2021/22 season, the relationship between the manager and the striker soured. Disciplinary issues prompted Arteta to leave Aubameyang out of matchday squads and strip him of the captaincy. On February 1st 2022, the forward’s contract was cancelled by mutual consent, allowing him to join Barcelona.

In the summer of 2022, Aubameyang joined Chelsea. However, his form deserted him at Stamford Bridge, as he managed just 1 goal in 15 Premier League outings for the Blues. At the end of that single season in West London, he was allowed to move on again, joining Marseille. The 35-year-old now plies his trade for Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Qadsiah.

Aubameyang has explained his Arsenal exit himself, detailing the breakdown of his relationship with Arteta in spectacular fashion. Aubameyang has also explained his emotional state at that time.

Alex Iwobi aims dig at former Arsenal teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Alex Iwobi once shared a dressing room with Aubameyang at Arsenal. The Hale End academy graduate now plies his trade for Fulham.

In a video recently posted to Fulham’s TikTok channel, Iwobi was tasked with ranking players that were presented to him in a random order.

When a picture of Aubameyang wearing a Chelsea kit came up for ranking, Iwobi said: “When he was at Chelsea? That’s my guy as well, man. You snake, should’ve been at Arsenal.”

Iwobi clearly holds no serious ill-will towards the veteran attacker, but it is obvious that the manner in which he left Arsenal damaged his reputation.

On top of Iwobi, former Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno can also be found at Craven Cottage, and Willian has also plied his trade for Marco Silva’s side, too.

This summer, Fulham signed Emile Smith Rowe, after it became clear that the midfielder was not a key figure in Arteta’s plans. Leno and Iwobi welcomed Smith Rowe to Fulham as he underwent his medical, reflecting the Arsenal connection between the trio.
