Former Chelsea coach Jody Morris has revealed his delight for Kai Havertz since the German international’s move to Arsenal.

The 24-year-old forward has been exceptional for the Gunners in recent weeks with Havertz last night scoring the winner for Arsenal in their dramatic 2-1 win against Brentford.

Having scored in his last four Premier League games, Havertz’s form has been influential in Arsenal’s eight-game winning run in the league, with the north London side now back in the title race.

And speaking to Football Daily, Morris was full of praise for Havertz, with the coach pleased to see how well the former Chelsea star is now doing since leaving Stamford Bridge for Arsenal.

Having already tied his best Premier League goalscoring record, Havertz has truly found his feet at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta, and the former Bayer Leverkusen man looks reborn in north London.

Morris said about Havertz’s form: “I’m really pleased for him, he’s one of those players that maybe divides opinion at times, and do we still know his position? Probably not.

“But if he produces and scores goals at pivotal times then it’s an easy way to take that argument out of the conversation. He can be a nine, false nine, a ten, an eight at best, but, if you chip in with goals no matter your position, you’re going to be valuable to the team. I’m really pleased for him, he’s a great lad.”

Many eyebrows were raised in the summer when Arteta made the decision to sign Havertz from Chelsea in a deal that could cost as much as £65m.

Yet after a rocky start, the Arsenal manager has once again been proven completely right in his judgment to sign Havertz, who is now an invaluable member of the Gunners squad.

The Germany international’s performances has been game-changing for Arsenal and have trusted the north London side back into the Premier League title race, with Havertz’s potential once again being realised.
