Former Spurs midfielder slams Arsenal as a ‘shambles’ and makes Luton comparison

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara has aimed a jibe at Arsenal.

Arsenal’s poor recent form continued on Sunday, as they crashed out of the FA Cup at the hands of Liverpool.

This result condemned the Gunners to their third defeat in as many matches, having previously been beaten by West Ham United and Fulham in Premier League encounters.

Not only have the north London side been eliminated from the FA Cup, but having been perched at the top of the Premier League table on Christmas Day, they now find themselves in fourth-place, five points behind the current leaders.

It has been a disastrous start to the new year for Arsenal, and frankly, Mikel Arteta must lay the blame at the feet of his attackers. Over the course of these three consecutive losses, Arsenal have only found the back of the net once, but not for a lack of opportunities. Against West Ham United and Liverpool, in particular, the Gunners had plenty of chances to score but were not able to do so on either occasion. 

Jamie O’Hara mocks misfiring Arsenal

Arteta’s misfiring side need to find their finishing touch again quickly if they are to stand any chance of winning the Premier League title this season. The likes of Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli, who only have 5 league goals between them, need to raise their games in the second half of the campaign. Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka both also need to rediscover their clinical edge.

Given that the Gunners are currently enduring these struggles, it is unsurprising to see transfer rumours linking them with a number of high-profile goalscorers. However, there are already players capable of finding the back of the net with regularity on the books at the club. Now, they need to start delivering consistently.

In the meantime, those who don’t want to see Arsenal succeed this season will be enjoying the club’s current struggles. Jamie O’Hara, who featured 56 times for the Gunners’ bitter local rivals Tottenham Hotspur in his playing career, responded to Arsenal’s loss against Liverpool on talkSPORT.

He dubbed the performance a “shambles from Arsenal. What are they doing? They’ll win as many trophies as Luton this year.”

Arsenal’s aim heading into this season will certainly have been to get their hands on some silverware, and it still will be their goal. However, Arteta will be furious to have seen his side crash out of the FA Cup so early. Especially as Arsenal could have had a victory of their own wrapped up in the first half against the Reds had they taken but a few of the many goalscoring opportunities that they created.
