Arsene does not know why Chelsea let Nketiah go

The Arsenal manager was left confused as to why Chelsea allowed their former youngster Eddie Nketiah leave. The 18-year-old scored a brace from the bench last night to save Arsenal’s blushes against Norwich. Nketiah was in Chelsea’s youth set up until 2015 when he was released. Arsenal then acted quickly to sign the forward who is now starting to see first team action. Wenger said:

“I don’t know why Chelsea decided to let him go. You see that more and more these days. Young people going from one club to another. I felt I was happy for him and the team. We lacked ideas and clear-cut chances. I was impressed by Norwich in defence. I know that he can score goals and that he has character. He is not afraid. He can give and go, and once a player has that in his game, they have a chance.”

Before last night Nketiah had featured just once briefly in the Europa League but, given his goals, may now appear more regularly.

Sanchez’s advice for young forward

Alexis Sanchez had a few pieces of wisdom and advice to pass on to young Arsenal forward Reiss Nelson. In a recent interview the Chilean international had the following to say:

“Reiss has real talent, but he still has a lot to learn from other players from playing more matches and getting more experience. That’s exactly what the boss is providing for him, so that he can carry on improving as a player. He must train every day and get better every day. It’s all down to him whether or not he wants to end up at the very top of the sport.”

Nelson played 85 minutes of last nights game against Norwich City until he was replaced by goal scorer Nketiah. He has made five appearances for Arsenal this season but is yet to score.

Wright thinks Walcott should move on

Arsenal legend Ian Wright thinks that Theo Walcott should move away from the Emirates to salvage his career. With limited opportunity so far this season the England international has not featured much in the league. Wright said:

“I’m not sure where he can go now with Arsenal and he’s only playing in the Carabao Cup and the Europa League. He’ll want to finish on a high in respect of what he’s doing, he’s given Arsenal great service in the time he’s been there and for me he should move on for himself.”

Walcott has made five appearances from the start this season and all have come in the cup competitions. He has played only 47 minutes in three appearances from the bench in the Premier League so it seems that Wenger does not consider him amongst the strongest players in the squad.

Dream come true for Eddie

Eddie Nketiah described his home debut for Arsenal last night as a ‘childhood dream’. Scoring two goals and changing a cup game to send your side through in extra time would be a dream for many pros but to happen so early in a career must have been a great feeling.

“I’m just delighted to make my home debut and score two goals to win the game for Arsenal. It’s a great feeling for me and my family. To hear the fans screaming my name, it’s been a childhood dream for me. Hopefully it’s just the start and you will see many more goals and better performances from me. It made me feel very privileged to be welcomed by the fans. It’s a dream come true. I just want to continue impressing the fans and making them happy because they mean a lot to the club and to me.”

Hopefully he can kick on and make regular appearances for Arsenal this season.
