Arsenal recorded an impressive victory over Manchester United in their pre-season tour in the USA, with Gabriel Jesus on the scoresheet.

Gabriel Jesus continued his fine start to pre-season as he fired in an equaliser for Arsenal in the first-half, slotting Ethan Nwaneri’s cross in from close range in what was an exceptional display overall.

Jesus endured a difficult campaign last season as he could not find his best form in between injuries, and will hope to find some consistent fitness and get back to his best.

The 26-year-old lost his starting role as a striker to Kai Havertz by the end of last season, but speaking after the game, he made a defiant promise that Arsenal fans will soon see the very best of him again.

Gabriel Jesus claims he’s ready to get back to his best after Arsenal win

Speaking to club media after the victory in Los Angeles, Jesus highlighted how a full pre-season can help him recover his best form.

“My last pre-season was no good, you know, because I was feeling my knee, so I had surgery and I missed all of the pre-season,” he stated.

“I lost all the pe-season so I am trying in the pre-season to force it, force it, but at the end, I couldn’t and had surgery.

“That was a little bit difficult after to come back, but this season is different. I could enjoy my holidays and then I trained a lot and then I was focused to come back well and do a good pre-season. So, now I am in a different shape, so now I think I can play football again.”

Jesus’ best form at Arsenal came as soon as he arrived from Manchester City in the summer of 2022. He came into pre-season fully firing, and this led into a strong start in the Premier League.

Jesus copied the success of Olivier Giroud, who had an outstanding start to the 2013-14 season after scoring eight times in pre-season to hit his best form.

The Brazilian will now hope to do the same again. If he can reach his best, he will be a valuable asset either on the wings or as a striker, and when he is fully firing, there are not many better forwards in the Premier League.
