Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has now revealed one key instruction he always gives his teammates.

Gabriel Jesus was in sparkling form for Arsenal last night against Sevilla. He assisted Gabriel Martinelli’s opening goal, before adding a second himself after the break.

The 2-1 Champions League triumph ensures that the Gunners remain in charge of their qualification group.

The win did not come easy for Mikel Arteta’s side, though. The north London club were made to defend for their lives late on, and both of their goals came from moments of individual brilliance.

The first goal, in particular, showed Jesus at his best creatively. The Gunners were under pressure when Gabriel Magalhaes cleared his lines. Jesus latched onto the ball in his own half, surrounded by Sevilla players. The Brazilian attacker then performed a perfect Cruyff turn to generate some room for himself.

Spotting the run of Martinelli, Jesus slid a through-ball directly into his compatriot’s path. Martinelli then rounded the goalkeeper and rolled the ball into an empty net to give Arsenal the lead on the stroke of half time.

Gabriel Jesus shares his masterplan

It was an exquisite goal that showcased Jesus’ quality. However, the move as about more than just the 26-year-old. Gabriel Magalhaes and Martinelli played their parts to bring this made-in-Brazil goal together.

The defender, in particular, deserves some credit for directing his clearance Jesus’ way. That was part of the plan, after all.

After the match, as quoted by Football Daily, Jesus said, “I say all the time to the defenders to clear the ball and try to find me, Gabriel Magalhaes did it and then I can control…then I turn…I just give him [Martinelli] the ball.”

Jesus has had his critics, mostly for his inconsistent finishing. However, everything came together for the 63-cap Brazil international on Tuesday evening. It was just a shame to see him leave the pitch early having sustained a knock.

Arteta will be hoping that the injury doesn’t prove to be anything serious. Keeping Jesus fit is key to Arsenal’s plans and ambitions for this campaign as, at his best, the former Manchester City man can elevate this team to the next level.
