Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has made himself clear in a recent revelation about his resurgence at the Emirates.

It’s been a trailing few years for Jesus, who experienced a dreary scoring drought, causing him to drop out of Mikel Arteta’s favoured XI.

Before the festivities, the Brazilian reminded the Gunners that he’s very much still active at the Emirates, scoring five goals in the space of a week against Crystal Palace.

Now, Jesus is back to being Arsenal’s dangerous forward in what is a boost for the club and the player.

Gabriel Jesus makes Kai Havertz admission

For fans, the striker’s recent form comes as a shock however, the Arsenal squad always had belief in Jesus.

Martin Odegaard noted how hard Jesus works in training, commending his teammate for his work in what has been a difficult time. 

Matters weren’t made easy for the former Manchester City ace during the summer of 2023, as Arteta welcomed Kai Havertz to bolster Arsenal’s options going forward.

While the transfer paid off, added pressure was put on Jesus to perform at the level his teammate was although, that’s not quite how the dynamic has been behind the scenes.

Speaking to ESPN, the Brazilian shared his verdict on Havertz’s rise and how it’s impacted his Arsenal career. 

“Any player who has a streak of goals will perform better than someone who doesn’t, it’s normal. But I understand that the player who is playing is performing, which is Kai Havertz.

“I believe the coach knows this and can count on both of us. And we [can] also play together, he plays further back, sometimes we switch, I play on the wing.”

Jesus explained that he’s more than capable of playing alongside Havertz, something that has happened in recent weeks amid the Premier League winners’ scoring form.

Jesus’ subtle transfer message to Mikel Arteta 

The 27-year-old’s admission suggests that he hasn’t seen Havertz’s arrival as a hindrance, but more as a boost.

Jesus sent Arteta a subtle transfer message by doing so, alluding to the fact that the manager can get the best out of playing his two forwards together. 

Given that Arsenal are under pressure to bring in a forward this winter, Jesus’ words set a different tone, emphasising that the Gunners do indeed have several options rather than two separate number nines. 

The stance minimises Arteta’s need to sign a goalscorer anytime soon however, whether the duo can do enough in terms of contributing to goals is a different matter.
