If you’re a current Arsenal player, then the idea of trying to get past William Saliba or Gabriel Magalhaes in training is the stuff of nightmares.
Arsenal’s defensive duo have become the rock on which all this season’s success has been built and they will go down as one of the greatest pairings in Premier League history.
Of course, facing them in training is a tough ask for anyone and speaking about that experience, Gabriel Jesus has explained just how tough it is.
If you could only pick one of William Saliba and Gabriel to stay at Arsenal forever, who are YOU picking and why?
Gabriel Jesus says Gabriel and Saliba always want to win in training
Clearly, to be winners on the field you need to have a mindset that runs through the whole club. And that includes training.
Indeed, speaking about Gabriel and Saliba’s partnership, Jesus has revealed it’s a tough test in training.
“They understand each other so so good you know, perfect, it’s like, one of, if not the best centre backs in the world because the way they understand each other is unbelievable and then also Saliba and Gabi the way they want to to win is something that is very good as well,” Jesus revealed to The Athletic.
“So yeah, it’s hard to train against them, but then I cause some problems for them as well.”
Arsenal’s record with Gabriel and Saliba as a partnership is second to none.
The Gunners’ win percentage when both start together is around the 74% mark, while the club picks up over 2.2 points per game when they partner up.

Crucially, they also ensure Arsenal concede less than a goal a game when they play, putting them currently on course for a Premier League record in terms of goals against.
Put simply, Arsenal would not be where they are right now without Gabriel and Saliba.
Indeed, it’s crazy to think that just a few seasons ago we were looking at Saliba as a player who might never even end up playing for the club. Now, he’s one of the best in the world and walks into any side in Europe.
Add in the goals that Gabriel provides and suddenly, you can see why this duo is so good.
