Gabriel Jesus urged to leave Arsenal and find ‘another club’ for the sake of his country

Gabriel Jesus’ future at Arsenal remains uncertain as the striker continues to slip down the pecking order.

The Brazilian joined Mikel Arteta’s project in 2022 from Manchester City, adding title-winning experience to the overly raw squad.

While Arsenal certainly benefited from the forward’s expertise in that area during the 2022/23 campaign, the outlook has quickly changed for Jesus.

The Gunners welcomed Kai Havertz the following year and ever since, Jesus has struggled to secure minutes at Arsenal.

Not only has Jesus fallen out of favour with Arteta, but at international level too, having not earned a call-up for his country in 2024.

The reasons are clear as the striker has been incredibly shy in front of goal, leading to a drop in confidence and subsequently, a drop in game time.

While Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli embark on international duty with Brazil, Jesus remains at home in North London, which must be a sucker-punch for the 64-capped forward. 

Amid the Selecao’s November fixtures against Venezuela and Uruguay, Arsenal Insider called on Brazilian journalist Rogerio Amaral Junior for his scope on Jesus’ future in the national team.

“Part of the Brazilian fans don’t like him because he doesn’t score many goals with the Brazilian team’s shirt. He is often criticized for not having any goals in World Cups,” the Editor-in-chief at Vamo Futebol explained.

“Personally, I believe he has the potential to be in the national team, for that to happen he needs to regain his place at Arsenal or look for another club where he can play more often.”

Junior handed Jesus a serving of reality, spelling out that if the 27-year-old has any hope of receiving a call from Dorival Junior, things have to change one way or another.

Jesus’ scoring form for Arsenal in 2024

Based on the expert’s opinion, the latter seems to be a more viable next step for the Brazilian, as Jesus is currently not offering Arteta much.

Signed as a striker for £45m, the four-time Premier League winner has done very little to pay back his transfer fee, with his form this year indicating that his Arsenal future is on thin ice.

Since the start of 2024, the forward has scored just two competitive goals for the Gunners, with his last Premier League goal coming back in January, over nine months ago.

Jesus scored in Arsenal’s EFL Cup win against Preston North End last month however, two goals conclude his 2024 scoring tally at this moment.

Alarm bells are certainly ringing in the player’s ears, with goals needed for the sake of his domestic and international future, where he has a lot of ground to cover to impress.
