Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes enjoyed the rivalry between the Gunners and Chelsea.

Arsenal beat Chelsea 1-0 at the Emirates to collect a crucial three points in the London derby.

It was a clash between the two sides that was dominated by refereeing decisions more than the actual action, with Ian Wright unhappy at how Arsenal attacked

Referee Chris Kavanagh dismissed two Arsenal penalty claims as well as not sending Wesley Fofana off for a string of bookable offences, on what was an eventful meeting in N5.

Why Gabriel Magalhaes and Enzo Fernandez argued during Arsenal vs Chelsea

Fortunately, Kavanagh’s mistakes in Arsenal vs Chelsea weren’t detrimental to the result, as the Gunners beat their rivals quite comfortably.

It was however a game that lacked quality, as expected from two sides who were missing key players.

Still, the hostility of a derby was very much evident on the pitch, as Gabriel clashed with Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

Journalist James Olley commented on the feud that built throughout the game, sharing that it started due to Fernandez being unhappy with how ‘easily’ Gabriel went to ground.

The duo exchanged words and actions throughout the contest, which spilt onto social media after the fixture as Gabriel celebrated Arsenal’s win.

The Brazilian shared a series of images on Instagram, one of which being the defender celebrating in the direction of Fernandez – a picture he also shared on his Instagram story to really rub salt in the wounds.

Rivalries between players are what makes derbies so exciting however, it’s not expected that Gabriel and Fernandez’s feud will end due to the match at the Emirates concluding.

Gabriel is one of several Arsenal players on international duty in March, where he will play two crucial games for Brazil, one of which is against Argentina.

Fernandez and the Arsenal centre-back are due to meet once more on March 26th in a crucial World Cup qualifying match.

Chelsea and Arsenal fans will keep a firm eye on the pair, who could continue their squabble on international duty.
