The Brazilian media have been left so impressed by the speed at which Gabriel Magalhaes showed against Scotland, and Arsenal must look to utilise it next season.
Brazil stormed into the Round of 32 at the World Cup by comfortably putting Scotland to the sword in Miami on Wednesday evening.
🏆 Which Arsenal star will go the furthest at this summer’s World Cup?
Zubimendi and Spain? Saka and England? Saliba and France?
Vinicius Jr netted a brace during the win over Scotland, with Carlo Ancelotti’s team finally showing signs of kicking into gear.
Following the 3-0 win, the local media in Brazil have been rating the performance of each player, but the Arsenal defender got a particularly high score against the Scots.
Gabriel Magalhaes shows impressive speed vs Scotland
Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has just proven that he is deceptively quick during Brazil’s 3-0 win over Scotland.
The Arsenal defender helped Brazil to keep a clean sheet, with Scotland testing the Brazilian defence on several occasions.
However, Gabriel dominated at the back, as the defender won seven of his seven duels, made three recoveries and completed an incredible 93 passes.
The media in Brazil have been singing his praises, but were particularly impressed by how quick the defender showed himself to be against Scotland.
- Globo GE gave him 7/10: “The best of the Brazilian defence. He made important interceptions, such as at 12 and 18 minutes of the first half. At times, he had to chase down opposing attackers and showed speed.”
- ESPN Brasil rated him 6.5/10: “Slightly better than his defensive partner, mainly due to his ability to play the ball out from the back and his physicality in recovering possession.”
- GZH: “He displayed one of his greatest virtues. In an attack, he ran after his opponent and came out ahead. The recovery is astonishing.”
Joao Pedro has previously spoken about Gabriel’s speed, but the Brazilian defender has never really had the chance to show just how fast he is for the Gunners.
Although it does prove that Mikel Arteta can play a higher line without having to worry about his centre-back being caught out.
