Gabriel Martinelli is closing in on six years at Arsenal.
The Brazilian joined the club from Ituano in the summer of 2019, when Unai Emery was still at the helm at the Emirates Stadium.
Martinelli has played a big part in the rebuild under Mikel Arteta, and even though he is still only 23, he is one of the seniors in the side.
But, who would Martinelli call if he had a problem? The attacker has had his say.
Gabriel Martinelli says he would call Gabriel Magalhaes if he got into a fight
Gabriel Magalhaes is one of Arsenal’s leaders.
The Brazilian has formed the best defence in the Premier League at the back alongside William Saliba, and the Gunners are so strong when he is in the side.
Gabriel’s talent, ability and leadership are what make him a brilliant player, but the way he stands up for his teammates deserves a lot of praise as well.
Every time one of his teammates at Arsenal is confronted by an opponent in a game, Gabriel steps in – that’s what a true leader should do.
That is probably why Gabriel Martinelli, in a video on ESPN, claimed that if he ever got into a fight, he would call Gabriel to help him.
But, if there are any other emergencies, he feels Jorginho would be of more help.
Martinelli said after picking Jorginho: “Yes, if I need to fight someone, I’m going to call big Gabi, not Jorginho.
“But, if I need someone to solve something, I’ll call Jorginho. He’s more experienced and has more contacts.”
Gabriel’s injury has proven one thing at Arsenal
For most of his Arsenal career, Gabriel hasn’t got the credit he deserves.
The Brazilian was often overshadowed by William Saliba, who, in all fairness, has been magnificent at the back for the Gunners over the years.
But, since Gabriel’s injury, Saliba has not looked the same and has made quite a few mistakes.
That proves that Gabriel is Arsenal’s most important defender, and his presence definitely makes Saliba perform better.
Jakub Kiwior has done well, but Gabriel is in a league of his own, and we can’t wait to have him back in action in pre-season.
