Arsenal attacker Gabriel Martinelli has now sent a message to the club’s supporters after his impressive start to pre-season.
Gabriel Martinelli only recently joined Arsenal on their pre-season tour of the US.
Having competed in the knockout rounds of the Copa America with Brazil, the winger was afforded an extended holiday and was therefore not present for the start of pre-season.
However despite this delay, Martinelli was still able to hit the ground running. He arrived in time to take part in the pre-season friendly against Manchester United in Los Angeles in the early hours of Sunday morning (UK time).
Mikel Arteta introduced Martinelli to the fray from the bench in the second half, and the 23-year-old was able to make a telling impact. In the 81st minute, Martinelli received the ball out wide on the left, and jinked into the penalty area before finishing neatly to secure a 2-1 win for the Gunners.
Martinelli was generally impressive for Arsenal throughout his cameo, and looks to already be fit, firing on all cylinders, and ready to go for the new campaign.
After the match, as quoted by the club’s official website, Arteta heaped praise on Martinelli, saying: “That’s the mentality of the team and individuals – one training session and he comes in and plays at that level. That means that he’s not coming here to get prepared, he’s come prepared to show where he is and that’s a very different approach and I loved it.”

Since then, the forward has taken to Instagram to share his own message: “Perfect way to kick off preseason! Feeling sharp and still got so much more to give Great to be back in LA.”
Martinelli did not have the best of seasons last time around, as he was only able to rack up 8 goals and 5 assists in 44 appearances, across all competitions. By the end of the campaign he has fallen behind Leandro Trossard in the pecking order.
However, he remains a player with huge potential, and someone Arteta clearly has great faith in. He will be eager to get back to his best this season, and if he can do that then he could play a big part in helping Arsenal to realise their Premier League title dream.
