Matchday 25 was almost perfect for Arsenal, until Manchester City left it late to win at Anfield.

Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Sunderland saw the Gunners head into Sunday with a nine-point lead in the Premier League title race.

After Liverpool took the lead over Pep Guardiola’s side, things looked very good for Mikel Arteta’s squad; however, a Bernardo Silva goal and a late Erling Haaland penalty saw Man City turn the game on its head.

Despite Gary Neville desperately wanting to alert viewers that Man City are back in the title race, matchday 25 ended just as it started, with no leads shrinking or growing, as Arsenal sit six points clear.

How do you HONESTLY feel about the title race after watching Man City’s win at Anfield?

Gary Lineker shares his verdict on Arsenal’s Premier League title chances after Man City’s win at Anfield

Manchester United legend Neville was as animated as most Man City fans in the gantry at Anfield.

The Sky Sports pundit’s take was bizarre, but thankfully, some in the media were able to think rationally amid the late chaos on Merseyside.

Reacting to the game on The Rest Is Football podcast was Gary Lineker, who shared his thoughts on the title race after City’s statement victory.

“I think for the neutrals, it keeps it alive,” Lineker said, before sharing what he believes the reality is.

“I still don’t think there’s any way that Arsenal won’t win it personally.”

Though Lineker has full confidence in Arsenal, he was eager to share the difference between a six-point lead and a nine-point lead, given his own experience.

“Six points is a lead that I had with Everton running with Liverpool back in 1986, and we conspired not to win the title, mainly down to losing key players to injury, it can happen. That sort of thing can happen.”

Alan Shearer was on hand to contextualise Lineker’s painful memory, noting that the Arsenal squad today is largely superior.

“He didn’t have a squad like Arsenal’s, though, did he?” He responded with a chuckle.

Man City’s win did change Opta’s Premier League title predictions

Arsenal’s dominance in the Premier League assures Lineker that the Gunners will lift the title in May.

Though there’s no reason for Gooners to lose sleep to nerves right now, it must be noted that Opta’s supercomputer did change its Premier League title figures after City’s win.

Rest assured, the predictions still give Arsenal a 90.14% chance of winning the league, with Man City’s chances rising to 8.15%.

Part of the shift was because Aston Villa drew to Bournemouth, seeing their chances shrink to 1.56%.

It was a dramatic matchweek, but one that ended just as it started, with Arsenal firmly in the driving seat.
